Younguns being into off-roading is always a hopeful sight. Maybe the future isn’t so dark after all. But what if they get bored sitting in the back seat of your Polaris RZR Pro R? Enter, the Polaris RZR 200 EFI, a youth side-by-side that allows your little ones to learn to off-road safely.
The RZR 200 EFI, along with the Ranger 150 EFI, are the only two real youth side-by-sides from mainstream manufacturers. Polaris has the market cornered for mini rigs, but is that such a bad thing?

Polaris doesn’t give any official power numbers for the RZR 200 EFI, but it’s unlikely that the 180cc single that powers it makes more than about 15 horsepower. And that’s plenty to power its 735 lb dry weight.
We don’t have horsepower numbers, but we do have know its top speed — or at least its maximum possible speed. From the factory, the RZR 200 EFI is restricted to 16 MPH. That can be adjusted to as high as 29 MPH as the supervising adult sees fit.

Other than being one of the only youth side-by-sides on the market, the RZR 200 EFI carries tons of neat features that make it one of the best options if you want to put your kid in a UTV.
You can connect the little RZR to the Polaris app and gain control over myriad settings to make sure your little ones are safe on the trail. The app comes with features like maximum speed adjustment, pin code start, geofencing, and helmet aware technology. All of those work together to let you fully control when, where, and how your children ride.
It’s also about as close to a full-size RZR as you can get. The 200 EFI comes with disc brakes on all four corners, a PVT transmission, LED lights, and styling similar to the iconic looks of the Pro R, Pro XP, and Pro S.

Do you have a kid who’s sick of riding shotgun in your full-size RZR? There’s no better way to get them on the trail and driving by themselves than the RZR 200 EFI. It’s got the safety features, it looks just like a real RZR, and there’s really nothing else like it on the market.
It’s also dead simple to work on, allowing your kids to get experience maintaining a vehicle. Features like chain drive, steel wheels, disc brakes, and EFI mean that it can be used and abused, and when it’s time to replace parts, it’s basically like putting legos together.
If you want to put your kid in something that’s not a Powerwheels, it’s hard to beat the RZR 200 EFI.

Like most side-by-sides, it’s hard to ignore the price. While we’re sure that it’s worth it, $6,799 is used car money and feels steep for what you’re getting. But you can always find a used rig for less, just check out the listings here on DirtHammer!
You’ll also be buying a vehicle that you know your kid will outgrow quickly. Polaris recommends ages 10+ for this rig. In a few years, they’ll have outgrown it and will start eyeing full-size rigs. Again, first-car money for something your children will only use for a few years could be a turn off.
You won’t need to dive very deep into the spec sheet to figure this one out — there is only one trim available. The only real customization available is the color, with Storm Grey and Polaris Blue being your two options.
If I like this… what else should I look at?
The Polaris Ranger 150 EFI is the only other mainstream side-by-side in this RZR 200’s class. That’s funny to say, considering we’re comparing a utility rig and a sport rig, but there really are no other youth side-by-sides on the market. Unless you wanna import one from the Chinese market, that is.
